Aakriti Shukla, M.D.
Aakriti G. Shukla, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in medical and surgical management of glaucoma and cataracts. She is continually inspired by her patients, and is committed to excellent clinical care. She serves as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University.
Dr. Shukla completed her undergraduate studies as a Trustee Scholar at the University of Southern California. She went on to medical school at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed ophthalmology residency at Columbia University’s Harkness Eye Institute, where she served as Chief Resident in her final year. After residency, Dr. Shukla completed advanced training in glaucoma diagnosis and management at Wilmer Eye Institute / Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.
Dr. Shukla has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and has been invited to speak nationally and internationally on her research. Her work has earned several awards and research grants including the American Glaucoma Society Mentoring for Advancement of Physician Scientists Grant and the American Academy of Ophthalmology Best Paper Award. Dr. Shukla is committed to global health initiatives, and has volunteered in surgical and medical mission trips to several countries including Guatemala, Mexico, and Honduras.
