Harry A. Lebowitz, M.D.

Dr. Lebowitz earned his medical degree at George Washington University and received his ophthalmology training at Yale University School of Medicine. He completed additional specialty training in diseases and treatment of the retina at the Retina Institute of Maryland and medical executive training at The Wharton School. A board-certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Lebowitz was chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology for the Christiana Care Health System. He is on staff at Christiana Hospital, Limestone Medical Center, and South Jersey Ambulatory Surgery Center. Dr. Lebowitz serves as Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Temple School of Medicine where he was awarded the "Preceptor of the Year". He was selected by the Medical Society of Delaware for "Best Doctors 2007-2008" of Delaware as well as selection as one of "America's Top Ophthalmologists." Dr. Lebowitz lectures extensively in the tri-state area on health related issues. A committed volunteer in the fight against world blindness, Dr. Lebowitz has donated his surgical services in Vietnam, El Salvador, Senegal, Mauritania and the Caribbean Islands. He regularly volunteers his time serving the Wilmington homeless population offering eye care on the St. Francis Outreach Medical Van and the Ministry of Caring and is an active member of "EyeCare America." Dr. Lebowitz's areas of expertise include cataract surgery utilizing monofocal and multifocal lenses and the correction of astigmatism. He also has expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of retinal diseases, especially macular degeneration and diabetes. An avid fly fisherman and technophile, he enjoys international adventures with his wife and daughter.
